Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

We had left over cabbage in our house – so I decided to make cabbage rolls (HA for the first time)… Here’s what I did

Left over Cabbage Head
Package of Sweet Italian SausageOnion (Chopped)
Garlic
Leftover Rice

I boiled the Cabbage Head for a while…..  and while that occurred I mixed the other ingredients. Most were left overs so I didn’t really measure.  For me garlic is a staple so I sprinkle it in everything also… So again I didn’t measure.

I set the oven to 350 degrees and got a baking pan (9 by 13).

When the cabbage was finished boiling (and yes I should have waited for it to cool)… I took leaves off of it and filled them with the mixture, wrapping them up and putting them upside down in the pan.  When I had used all the cabbage and mixture, I put the whole thing in the oven.

I checked periodically deciding it was done in about an hour -but that’s my estimate… and was based more on what time my husband got home.   Really when he got home I pulled them out, cut into one to make sure they weren’t raw and then served them with an asian salad I’d gotten already done at the store.

Everyone seemed to like them (though one child peeled off the cabbage and only ate the inside….)  I do think it will be something I will repeat in the future.
